Three Poisoning Investigations Unraveling Greed, Deception, and Silent Killers
Discover how seemingly accidental deaths concealed lethal poisonings, revealing shocking motives hidden just beneath the surface of successful lives. Readers gain insight into the methods killers use to mask homicide as illness or misadventure.
Short Summary
- Detectives uncovered homicides disguised as snake attacks (Ben Renick), accidental falls (Steven Clayton), or natural cardiac arrest (Angela Craig).
- The lethal agents included high-dose eye drops (THZ), and later, arsenic and potassium cyanide in specialized cases.
- Financial gain, infidelity, and control emerged as primary motives across all three investigations, dismantling the image of loving families.
This summary details three complex homicide investigations profiled by "48 Hours," demonstrating how subtle application of poisons—often household chemicals—can mimic acute illness. Understanding these tactics helps investigators recognize the silent killers that destroy seemingly perfect lives.

I can’t wrap my head around killing my spouse. Divorce isn’t near as bad as having your freedom taken or hurting innocent people.
She should have gotten life.
16 years. SMDH!!!😢😢😢 this isn't justice for Ben😢😢😢. IMHO!
Omg only 13 years?!? And she tried to blame the poor snakes, that probably loved him. I would have liked to see 48 hours interview the jurors as to WHY!!
Ben's "snakes" were actually displayed at the Museum of Natural History. So his memory still lives on. You're not forgotten Ben
She’s just sorry she got caught
Why do they give that information out about visine? It only gives crazy people ideas!
16 years sentence!! What were the jurors thinking??!!
Anyone else put these videos on and then fall asleep?
I shudder to think how many people have been killed by these eyedrops and gone unnoticed
