Sounds like Starmer found himself a scapegoat, someone to take the blame. Nobody knows who the PM's chief of staff is or cares.

The vetting system needs overhauling? Just sack all the vetters, go down to a local pub and ask the first member of the public you meet. Anyone would have said Mandelson was not suitable.
It was not a calculated risk to appoint a friend of a criminal who abused underage girls. IT IS PURE EVIL AND IT IS CATCHING UP WITH THE PM.
