Description

The US-Israel war with Iran is now engulfing the Gulf. The Gulf states - including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain - are some of the wealthiest places on earth, and have until recently been mostly insulated from Middle East conflicts. But why are places including Dubai, Qatar and Kuwait being targeted by Iranian strikes? And will the Gulf states retaliate if the bombing continues? The BBC's Security Correspondent, Frank Gardner, is an expert in the region. He explains why the Gulf may soon be pressed into action and offers his thoughts on what might happen next. New episodes of The Global Story are released daily. If you’re in the UK, listen on BBC Sounds. If you live outside the UK, listen on BBC.com or wherever you get your podcasts. Not to forget, still no arrests have been made in the USA relating to the Epstein child abuse scandal.

Israel sounds like it urgently sabotaged negotiations before an agreement could be reached because the main objective was war, not peace.

Talking with friends in the UAE, they are absolutely livid with the US and Israel, not so much with Iran, but that may change. Got sent a video this morning of an oil storage depot in Fujairah on fire. That's important as it's on the east coast and vessels do not have to go through Hormuz...and there is a land pipeline going to Abu Dhabi on the other side of the peninsula, essentially linking the oil trapped on the blockade side and an open port.

Brilliant guest speaker - Frank - who, very ably and expertly explained in simpler terms and breakdown of the very complex, multilayered geopolitical and religious situation in the Middle East. Thank you!
