Description

Why are psychologists worried about the growing trend of ADHD self-diagnosis via social media? An NHS study from earlier this year said 52% of ADHD-related videos on TikTok were inaccurate. Matt and Marianna discuss the real world impacts, and why this type of misinformation can attract such high levels of engagement. #BBCNews

I'd be really curious to know what the statistics are from the NHS of the amount of people who go for testing and don't get a diagnosis 🤷

Some very good points made. It’s theoretically possible to push a diagnosis if you don’t have ADHD, but it’s hard to fake the school report comments that show that you had the same issues years ago. Sadly the truth about people jamming up the system is also true.

Farage said mental health has gone too far in the middle of a mental health crisis, reform is not a party you can trust on mental health.

More scaremongering about ADHD because they don't realise how debilitating the condition is and how difficult to get a diagnosis is. I didn't get diagnosed until I was 27 and getting medicated literally saved my life.

Hello. By far the simplest way to combat the lack of an attention span. Is to logically work to reduce the amount of 'Totally Unnecessary Thinking' that is being allowed by you to take place in your mind. That unnecessary thinking that when entering into your mind is bringing an end to your awareness/presence of mind. Best wishes 🙏

It is a bit like you are asking 'how do we stop hear say?'.

I am waiting for a flood of new content saying how content undermining ADHD content is making diagnozed ADHD people doubt their diagnoze and stop treatment, cause this is what is happening in my head right now. What a loop 😄
