Depressing poll. We are supposed to be the leaders of the free world.
They definitely prey on the frustrations and ignorance of disillusioned people.
Law of attraction - when you choose the one that is good at complaining, you get more things to complain about
The problem isn’t that Bernie is wrong about the “problems” but he’s wrong about the solution. People think he’s saying the system is broken so we need to tear it down, thats not really what he saying. He’s saying we need to tear down OBSTACLES to full control for the system. If he wanted it torn down, they would want to cut the system down, not grow it.
However, if Bernie won the Dem nomination for prez., he'd lose the general election in a landslide -- so, how meaningful is that poll?
Israel was formed by socialists, and the crown jewel was the Kibbuz: a cumulative farm communities ranging from few dozens to few hundreds of members. Everything was shared. The slogan was “everyone gives by what they are able, and take by what they need”. It was a real socialist paradise. They only problem was that it was heavily subsidized by the left wing government (AKA: other people’s money) until the late 1970’s. When the right wingers rose to power, many of these communities financially collapsed and had to reform. The only ones that survived in the original format where communities that had successful factories and well-managed financials. As we say: “to be a real socialist you need a lot of capitalist money”.
No wonder Socrates was sceptical about democracy. It seems that elections really have become popularity contests - not rational choices by qualified, thoughtful individuals.
