Health care is too expensive for poor people 😢 and people with low wages sometimes don’t get health care for companies they work for
I've paid taxes since I was 16 years old and I've never gotten back more than $2,000 on a tax return but my jobless cousin who has four kids by two different guys gets back almost $9,000. I've got kids also and I've never understood how people that don't pay taxes get more money than people that do pay taxes.
Health insurance is too expensive for many people. My daughter graduated from college was working 40 hours a week. Health Insurance was way too expensive for her, premiums, deductibles and copays were unaffordable. Imposible to pay rent, food, car insurance, gas, health insurance and medical bills for a single girl. Even that she didn’t qualified for Medicaid. Something has to be fixed.
My biggest issue when it comes to medical. Is the expense for my insurance in particular at my job. I work 50 to 60 hours a week. Unfortunately in Illinois which is probably 40 hours a week and a lot of other states. But my insurance for what they call the family plan which is 3 is 320 dollars a week. Plus all my taxes coming out . There's no way I can afford it. And the ot is never hey guarantee. And I'm a welder I went to a trade school.
Medicaid is definitely not just for people who are poor. Medicaid is also for the frail elderly who need home health care or nursing home care. Yes, there are strict income qualifications in order to be enrolled and you need to be at poverty level or you need to spend down your assets to qualify.
Too many people who are labeled "able bodied" are not able and falling through the cracks who need disability. Some are not "able minded". The disability system is too 'all or nothing'. It needs staggered in some manner for these people.
It took me nearly 2 years to get my 81 year old mom on medicaid. The ridiculous crap I had to prove she was poor and needed it for her long-term care center. They wanted grocery receipts for 5 years. But others seem to get on with no damn issue. It really needs to be for those who truly need it.
Here is one of the frustrating things about the healthcare system and Medicaid. My son is on the autism spectrum. When he was diagnosed, I was a teacher, and I had excellent and comprehensive health insurance. I attempted to get services for my son (counseling, therapy) through my insurance. NONE of the providers in my area who dealt with autism would accept my insurance. They insisted that I apply for the Medicaid program because they ONLY worked with that insurance. I could not believe that I, as a working parent with a good job and good insurance, had to rely on taxpayer-sponsored health care in order to get services for my son, but that is how the system is set up in my area.
I'm literally handicapped but I have to work since my husband died during covid. I work 50 hours a week but I'm still on Medicaid although now I have an $80 copy
Nothing I like more than comparing prices bleeding out in the back of an out of network ambulance compating hospital prices!
