The "i don't know" bit is true. If my 8 year old asks me about something i don't know about, i tell her i don't know. Her response? "I'll go look it up" or "can we look it up?" And we're both smarter for it

My Dad modeled epistemic humility. He was well schooled with his P.H.D. but you would never know it because he did not feel the need to show off his knowledge. The idea that "I might be wrong" is a healthy way to approach our conversations and to build trust.
