I think it's reasonable to acknowledge that an adult uttering a racial epithet towards a child is wrong while also acknowledging that the mob's response of threatening her and her child's life is unjustified. People shouldn't have to walk around in fear of being violently assaulted for saying or doing something that the other side doesn't like.

I'm in total agreement with Ben's ultimate point, we need a more nuanced view of how we treat the things we don't like. Cancelling things we disagree with is not the same as confronting them, dealing with them, it's the opposite. We have to share the world with people we disagree with. This idea is drifting away from the current generation.
