They eventually fired him and my business grew over the next forty years. Thank goodness I faced a glass ceiling…it enabled me to reach my full potential. As a contractor in a male dominated industry I used the combination of my technical aptitude, hard work to augment the advantage being a woman to get my foot in the door. I refused to use the ‘woman’s owned business’ classification for bids. It was important to me to succeed based on my abilities rather than perceived disadvantages.
