Ben Shapiro Reviews "Wicked: For Good"
Structural Analysis of Wicked: For Good and Musical Adaptation Flaws
Learn why structural weaknesses present in the original Wicked musical heavily impact the second film adaptation, Wicked: For Good. This breakdown clarifies where the movie succeeded artistically versus where it failed structurally.
Short Summary
- The inherent two-act structure of the source musical forces Act Two to contain substantial plot filler.
- Splitting the material into two overly long movies prevented necessary cinematic condensation and restructuring.
- Ariana Grande delivers a surprisingly strong dramatic performance as Galinda in this installment.
This review analyzes Wicked: For Good, explaining that its primary flaws stem from the original stage production's structure rather than directorial choices, though significant missed opportunities for narrative improvement existed during adaptation.

I find it hilarious that Ben’s grievances are very similar to those of my roommate — who is not a Ben Shapiro fan lol
Ben has an alternative career as a showtunes reviewer.
Ben being a theater kid will never not be weird for me :)
The thumbnail pic of Ben with tiara got me 😂😂😂
I hope you do more Movie reviews. I actually really like your theater child perspective and would like to see that in non-theater movies
There's an alternate reality where Ben is not a political commentator but is instead a Roger Ebert style movie reviewer
Ben should legit just do this full time.
The revenue for 2 good movies and the associated merchandise is far greater than one perfect movie.
The flashback at the end was so they could show that last shot of Galinda whispering into Elphaba's ear, which is a nod to the original musical poster. I thought it was a very nice touch and a very fitting last shot.
My thought is that, if they had to add a song, it should have been given to Fiyero. He has very little to actually do in part 2. A song with him sorting through his feelings for both Glinda & Elphaba, how he has changed, etc would have been much more interesting than either of the songs that were added.
