I live close to some of these border towns and I can tell you it is such a nightmare when huge masses of people come in. Its dangerous for the people who live in the towns, and for the people crossing. The landscape is VERY HOT and full of dangerous animals, lack of water due to severe drought for several years, and most of the land they cross on is ranch land and a Texas rancher is one of the last people you want to encounter when trespassing because they are armed with multiple guns (not necessarily for people trespassing but mainly for the animals that can kill you). And if that's not enough, people will pile into trucks, trains, uhauls, and trailers so full that many of them die due to heat exhaustion. Not to mention the drugs and human trafficking that happens on a disgusting regular basis. These towns aren't made to handle the large masses of people coming in, and there have been instances where people on the buses have taken people hostage, and attempted to take the bus elsewhere, crashed it into a ditch, and everyone who was physically able flead on foot. Not everyone who comes is a criminal trying to hurt people but most of them are, the ones actually seeking true asylum are very few.

I'm an immigrant who did everything by the book. It was costly, stressful, but here I am. I didn't do things against the law in my own country, why should I do it in someone's?

US has tough immigration laws for doctors, IT specialists and highly skilled professionals from other Western nations but as soon as you cross illegally without papers, English skills and education you can stay as long as you like. Just nuts!
