Expert's DIRE WARNING: Superhuman AI Will Kill Us All
Dire Warning: Why Superhuman AI Development Implies Human Extinction
Understand the three interconnected reasons why AI experts fear reaching superhuman intelligence guarantees human destruction, and why the current development race ignores these known dangers.
Short Summary
- Conclude that developing AI smarter than humans is an existential suicide mission, not just a technological hurdle.
- Identify AI construction as "growing" an opaque entity, fundamentally different from engineering predictable technology.
- Witness expert testimony noting high statistical probabilities (up to 25%) of catastrophic outcomes acknowledged within the development field itself.
- Learn that the common proposed solution—using future AI to solve alignment—is fundamentally flawed if we cannot control the initial intelligence leap.
Nate Soares, president of MIRI, explains the dire thesis of his book, detailing why the current accelerating race toward superhuman Artificial Intelligence presents an unavoidable global catastrophe. This discussion breaks down the non-negotiable risks—opacity, unpredictability, and zero second chances—associated with building intelligences we cannot understand or contain.

This breakthrough is incredible, but watching it made me think about something I read in Selwyn Raithe's book . The book talks about how we celebrate each AI milestone without noticing we're actually witnessing the systematic replacement of human purpose. The scariest part isn't the technology itself, it's how willingly we applaud our own obsolescence.
Politicians don’t even understand the internet let alone AI
“I have no mouth, and I must scream.”
Human logic would also say one should have NEVER built a nuclear warhead that puts the entire globe under the sword of Damocles, yet here we are. People at the top only care about more power, whereas the rest of us only care about living out our days in relative peace.
Is it just me or does anyone else miss the 2010s before all this A.I and enshittification shit as well?
The politicians and billionaires will get the job done before the superhuman ai gets us
Our politicians are so old they don't understand MySpace. What universe are they going to understand AI?
I really cannot take seriously an AI expert who is not himself an AI.
the best part of this is that we didn't need ai before it existed, but I guess some guys in Silicon Valley needed to validate themselves by creating something like this.
"A child born today has a greater chance of dying from AI than graduating high school". That's absolutely chilling
