Why are we smiling while the US is attempting to colonize South America? This is some evil crap.
“Hell yea Breaking Points on Sunday?! Let’s go!!!” “What the hell”
Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil all spoke out against the Palestinian Genocide in Gaza. Israel is behind these attacks. Argentina received $40 billion for allying with Israel.
I hate these fake nationalist movements in Latin America. Leftist governments exercise more sovereignty than nationalist governments. Nationalist governments are just US and Israeli vassals.
Brazilian here. The journalist is severely misrepresenting known facts about Lula and Bolsonaro. It was widely reported (by a US journalist actually, that lives and works here, Glenn Greenwald), based on information obtained by a whistleblower that hacked into the telegram accounts of prosecutors and the judge that would eventually sentence Lula on the corruption charges, that they cooperated on fabricating evidence and building a media circus to implicate Lula on corruption accusations. In the end, Lula was convicted on claims that he received an apartment and infrastructure reforms to a countryside property of his as bribes without any concrete proof of that being the case. Years later, after the leaks, the conviction was overturned by the supreme court. The fact the judge had no jurisdiction to try the case was only one of the (minor) arguments. Funny how that's all the "journalist" mentions... Also, he appears to claim that only Lula's political party (PT) was implicated on the billions embezzled from Petrobras. Actually, PT governed in a coalition that included political parties across the entire political spectrum, because, unlike the presidential election, where only two parties had names big enough to win, for Congress and the Senate there were dozens of political parties with elected officials, and PT and PSDB weren't even the biggest ones. To be able to govern, Lula distributed important positions on ministry's and public companies to all those parties. All of them were implicated on the corruption scandal in the early 2010s, and some of the corruption schemes turned out to date back from the mid 90s, before Lula won his first presidential election (2000). In the big media that dominates discourse, that belongs to the very wealthy people whose parties dominate Congress and Senate to this day, the popular leftist president and people from his party were blamed for everything, while the involvement of other parties didn't get any attention. This journalist is basically replicating that dynamic. Funnily enough, he works for a press vehicle that belongs to a former Senator that had the honor of being the first one ever impeached for breach of decorum and corruption. I will not even start on what he said about Bolsonaro because I already wrote an entire essay here.
Next time please talk to Leandro Demori or Jamil Chad both Brazilian they are reporters and Leandro had worked for intercept and Glen Greenwald. I'm Brazilian and I don't think Sam was able to articulate very well the situation. Not just because of the English but also because of the lack of information. We are not sending our best! Lol
Comparing Biden to Lula is crazy.
Im sorry, the ramifications of US involvement in Latin America are still being dealt with, why would voters willingly chose these corrupt candidates being backed or supported by the orange goon? It’s so sad to see it twice in my lifetime.
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is already in custody and serving a prison sentence for his role in trying to overthrow the 2022 presidential election. On September 11, 2025, a five-justice panel of Brazil's Supreme Court convicted Bolsonaro on five charges, including plotting a coup d'état, taking part in an armed criminal organization, and attempting to violently abolish the democratic rule of law. The court sentenced him to 27 years and three months in prison.
while i concede that bolsonaro is just vanilla trump, comparing lula to biden is kinda insane tbh. Its literaly comparing an anti-imperialist anti-genocide guy who grew up illiterate vs a middle class imperialist guy who greenlighted and funded a genocide live. Btw as it pertains to brasilian derision communism, you can pretty much chalk it up to the military coup you guys helped install here, not to mention westernized propaganda.
