Josh Shapiro CRANKY After AIPAC Ties Question
Analyzing Democratic Politicians' Responses to AIPAC Scrutiny and Massachusetts Primary Political Maneuvering
Understand how high-profile Democrats like Josh Shapiro deflect pointed questions about lobbying influence, and analyze the high-stakes political calculus behind Seth Molton’s decision to reject AIPAC funding.
Short Summary
- Analyze Josh Shapiro’s defense strategy, which reframed questions about AIPAC as "lazy" shortcuts rather than substantive policy inquiries.
- Contrast Shapiro’s deflection with Seth Molton's direct rejection of AIPAC funding, noting Molton's specific criticism centers on reflexive support for the Netanyahu government.
- Review how other potential contenders (Newsom, Booker) similarly mishandled scrutiny regarding foreign policy positions when pressed by interviewers.
This segment examines recent political confrontations centered on AIPAC donations and influence, primarily focusing on Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's interview tactics and the contrasting stance of Massachusetts Senate candidate Seth Molton. The discussion provides insight into how establishment Democrats navigate contentious foreign policy questions while also examining internal party dynamics regarding cultural issues and long-serving incumbents.

Josh: I really like AIPAC money so please don't ask me about it because it makes me look bad and feel uncomfortable 🥵

I am a Pennsylvania Democrat and won't vote for anyone taking AIPAC money. I am far from alone on this.
In a 1993 college-op-ed, Shapiro described himself as “a past volunteer in the Israeli army” (i.e., the IDF) and claimed he had “spent five months … in Israel and volunteered in the Israeli army.” An American doing "volunteer work" for a foreign army shows disloyalty to our country.
CAIR isn't a foreign lobby group. They advocate for civil rights for Muslims in America, not for the interests of a foreign country. The comparison is moot.
Last name is Shapiro. Why are we even acting surprised here 😂
