While the fact that they're right on the border is noteworthy, U.S. Army doctrine has been changing since the mid-2010s to be less oriented for fighting insurgents in the Middle East and more oriented for fighting Russia and China. There are posters all over Fort Benning displaying Russian and Chinese military vehicles and equipment so soldiers can identify it.
