Analysis of Zohran's Dominance in NYC Polling and Contrasting Political Ideologies

Discover why Zohran commands a near-majority lead in the crowded NYC mayoral race, winning decisively on key local issues like crime and housing, despite opponents’ attacks.

Short Summary

  • Zohran leads the four-way race with a commanding 46% support in recent New York Times polling.
  • He dominates opponents across all tested policy areas, including crime, housing, and affordability.
  • Opponents’ attempts to weaponize affordability and foreign policy narratives failed to significantly damage his standing.
  • The discussion contrasts Zohran’s populist success with the underlying mechanics of the pro-growth "Abundance" movement and the anxieties of the nationalist right (NATCON).

Journalist Dave Weigel reviews new New York Times polling data showing candidate Zohran's major advantage in the crowded Democratic primary. We examine how Zohran captured the core economic message while exploring internal tensions within opposing political coalitions, specifically regarding building policy and foreign interventionism.

Zohran doesn't need DNC endorsement including that of Jeffries and Schumer who needs to be primaried as they don't represent their voters

Sliwa v. Mamdani would be amazing. The polling would be 85% Mamdani/ 15% Sliwa 🤣

Zohran obviously proves which policies and campaign strategy will give the Democratic Party huge success. The problem is that the Democratic Party only wants to win their way. They are happy to lose if it means they don’t have to give up their donors and power.

Abundance is neoliberalism wrapped up in a newer package and hiding the dark money a lot better .

It's no surprise that the Corporate DNC is Tone Deaf and Out of Touch with their own constituents. They can always be relied on to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The worst part of abundance is that it is an effort to redirect the YIMBY movement towards corporate interests. YIMBY is also pro-housing, pro-zoning reform. What abundance adds is anti-health, anti-union, and anti-environment.
