Mark Foley (R-FL) is the main reason the House of Representatives ended a 200+ year tradition and no longer has Congressional Pages (the Senate still does). Furthermore, allegations circulated about Foley a few years before the scandal broke in the news. It was never investigated. At the time the Speaker of the House was Dennis Hastert (R-IL). About a decade or so later, Hastert went to jail for wire fraud. Hastert was a former high school teacher and wrestling coach and, for years, made hush money payments to a former high school athlete/student that he molested. This heinous stuff runs deep and has been going back for years.

Sounds like hyperbole. It was an intern, so obviously not 12, under normally understanding, that would mean that anyone the age of the intern, was the equivalent of a 12 year old to him. If anything this sounds like he though the interns were too young.
