Description

Sarah Longwell gives her take on the state of race in the early contours of the 2026 midterm landscape. Democratic candidates are posting eye-popping Q1 fundraising numbers, dramatically outraising Republican opponents across key Senate and House contests. But the picture is more complicated than candidate fundraising alone—while Democrats are surging at the individual race level, Republicans maintain a substantial edge in party committees and aligned super PACs. I think it's pretty evident from the funding spread that people are willing to fund individual Democratic candidates but that no one wants to support the Democratic committee as a whole. People are not happy with Democratic leadership

The good news is that the 10 million dollars given to Democrats from 200,000 donors potentially is 200,000 votes, while the billionaire giving Republicans 10 million dollars is potentially only one vote.

The democratic party is out of touch with what democrats want and need, thus my money goes directly to the candidates that align with my democratic values and not to the party. I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one. Hello Democratic Party…Wake Up!

Talarico isn’t relying on his campaign contributions. Like Magyar, he’s stumping all small towns in a bus. He knows he won’t get fair press coverage in some red counties so he’s talking directly to voters. The real campaign starts when he knows his GOP opponent.

This is a shame. Think of all the healthcare and childcare that could be paid for with this money.

sounds about right to me, we don't like the democratic establishment leadership, we want people who stand up for democracy and don't cave to MAGA!!
