I’ve been listening to Underoath my entire life. I’m 36 and “They’re only chasing safety” came out while I was in high school and is still one of my favorite albums of all time.
This is a crazy pod! More bands please!
Never in a million years would I have guessed these guys would be on the podcast, amazing. Just saw their anniversary tour in Worcester, MA a few months ago and it was thoroughly nostalgic. Props for shining the spotlight on metal music Chris!
This episode might not get the big views as other high profile guests but man do those of us who know and love underoath and metal in general really appreciate it. Been listening to them since they're only chasing safety and so glad they're still around and putting out the music we love. Thanks for sharing this and hope you do more like these regardless of popularity. I didn't listen to them to be popular in high school. I listened because I genuinely loved it. Same with this podcast.
This conversation hit me hard. It's rare to see artists open up about the struggles behind the scenes—mental health, family, the pressures of touring. Thank you for your honesty; it makes a difference. Anyone else feel this?
Oh wow! 3 million plus subs and you have Underoath on? Thank you! As a 40 year old who grew up at Warped and on the scene with the boys, this was really full circle for me to hear and feel as a true adult now.
I don't even know where to start. First off, it was a bit surreal listening to one of, if not my favorite podcasters, interview one of, if not my favorite bands. And on top of that, as a drummer and musician, Aaron has always been on my Mount Rushmore of influence. So to then hear him detail his anxiety and specifically mention how it led to the initial breakup of the band, while at the same time being someone who, in the past 5-10 years, has begun struggling with health anxiety, is again, something I didn't expect, but can't express enough how much I appreciate.
This is a wild collab. Glad to see Aaron doing better. Tim’s ability to sort complex insight and verbalize is genius.
Fascinating discussion. I’m 70 years old and didn’t realize I have so much in common with these guys. Very articulate and insightful.
