Hey everyone, Jaby here. I explained in the first video (Star Wars Episode IV Reaction) the reason for this order. But I’ll try a summary here. Years ago, someone came up with something called The Machete Order where you watch IV, V, then go back and watch II & III. Then VI. I have Kristen on a modified Machete Order where I include Episode 1. Personally, I feel like watching episodes 1 to 6 in order isn’t right because you don’t know off Episode 1 why you love the universe. The nature of how those stories are told I feel hinges on your appreciation and familiarity with the original trilogy. Going original then prequel leaves the end of those six films a less satisfying punch which is why I think The Machete order is more emotionally effective. Some have expressed concern about the spoiler from Episode III before she reaches Episode VI. But for Kristen, the reveal in Episode VI, that “ah-hah!” moment happens towards the end of Episode III. And it becomes dramatic irony where the audience knows something Luke has yet to learn. I am catching a lot of heat for this, which I understand. But I also know two things. 1, there are plenty of “normal” order reaction videos. 2, I wanted to produce a set of reactions to this that I really wanted to see on YouTube. And I think that second one is really important irrespective of how much time ire it might earn me from some of the audience. Hope you guys enjoy.
"This is getting out of hand, now there are two of them" I use this whenever I can 😂
Natalie Portman played Queen Padmé Amidala and Keira Knightley played her decoy. Both were very young at the time, but Natalie was already much more well-known as actress.
Everytime C3P0 says, thank the maker in the orginal trilogy, now we know who he is talking about.
The "rat tail" of Obi Wan shows that he is a padawan learner, an apprentice, not a Jedi Knight yet. The final fight, playing "Duel of the fates", is one of the best in the franchise for me. Legendary.
The Duel of the Fate song that plays between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Darth Maul is one of my favorite songs written for a movie ever
Qui Gon Jinn suspected that Padme was the Queen. He isn't an idiot.
So here's a Fun Fact from the extended Star Wars universe: Astromech Droids (R2-D2) and others like him, regularly undergo upgrades and updates. In order for that to properly take effect, they get their memories erased periodically. Unlike most other Astromech Droids, R2-D2, copies his memory into data caches that he regularly interacts with and leaves behind a recognition protocol so that when he interacts with a particular console he automatically downloads his latest memories. I evsuch cache, is Luke's X-Wing. He leaves his memories in the ship's computer because he KNOWS Luke will not use any other R2 Unit. It's one of the reasons Artoo is exceptionally talented. Because unlike other Astromech Droids, Artoo regains his memories and has learned to adapt - and think - creatively. Oh and in case you were wondering, Astromech is essentially a Mechanic. If you need mechanical and electrical repairs on the fly an Astromech Droid is your most efficient option, other than another person. But a droid generally costs less than a full service mechanic. You only need to pay FOR the droid and it's yours. A person needs to be on retainer, in which case you pay them at regular intervals or on a per job basis; and that can get expensive.
Fun fact: Ewan McGregor's (Obi-Wan Kenobi) maternal uncle is Denis Lawson (Wedge Antilles). Wedge was the pilot that in Epi IV that had to leave the Death Star trench in his X-Wing because of damage and brought the ATAT walker to it's knees in Epi V with the tow cable. Ewan has said that his uncle's roles in Star Wars was one of the reasons he wanted to be an actor.
Kristen, I hope you noticed in the scene where Darth Maul and Qui-Gon were separated by the energy barriers, Qui-Gon meditated and was at peace. Meanwhile, Maul paced back & forth, frustrated and angry. Thus demonstrating the core difference between Sith and Jedi.
