This Christmas and A Different World on the same day?! Merry Christmas to us indeed.
What the African student was talking about @ 2:12 is exactly whats happening in America right now with book banning and censorship! This show stays relevant!
Y'all stop sleeping on my boy Michael I love his deep dives if you will between episodes!!!!
Jaby and Michael, I love your conversation. So don't ever worry about that!! Your conversation is what separates you from the other reaction channels!
We’re really starting to get into the heavy topics in A Different World now. And I love it!
I love Whitley going to bat for Kim. Yes, she was naive to an extent but she also showed extreme empathy for Kim and her financial situation. She knows how hard she works and the pressure she's under. Whitley has grown in terms of her ability to care about others. I was also impressed that Whitley checked Julian for his privilege, telling struggling students what help is appropriate to take. Our girl is growing! Baby steps, y'all.
So thank you Michael for noticing Freddy's arc. Freddy's character was born from Cree Summer the one who plays Freddy. This is also the work of Debbie Allen that she got to know them all personally and made them write their characters to fit pieces of them. Even Ron's real father had businesses and made a major difference in some way that unfortunately escapes me but he was following in his father's steps in real life and they wrote that into the show. The episode with Phylicia Rashad (Claire H) is so beautiful and as an adult I cry at the end of the episode because it means so much to me and our culture.
You see how deep these shows are NOW with Debbie Allen as the director. This is what Gen X grew up on. I was at an HBCU and we had discussions and activist like this on campus. It was a great time to see black men and women united and care for a cause.
You mentioned being confused about why they were talking to Mrs. Huxtable, it gave the audience a little bit more depth to each character. We always see what they show on the outside but it gave us a better look at their inner fears and concerns that they don't show their classmates. I thought it was clever and needed. This episode is slept on by most but I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Loved the issues that A Different World tackled. Love your reactions
