28 DAYS LATER (2002) Movie Reaction! | First Time Watch | Danny Boyle | Cillian Murphy
28 Days Later Reaction: First-Time Viewing Analysis
Understand the immediate impact and cinematic quality of this seminal post-apocalyptic thriller. Readers will gain insight into the visceral scares and complex survival themes introduced by Danny Boyle's vision.
Short Summary
- Immediate reactions highlighted the terrifying speed and strength of the infected ("Rage" carriers). (00:02:49, 00:03:02)
- Filmmaking techniques, such as wide, empty city shots, effectively conveyed acute post-societal isolation. (00:04:23, 00:04:51)
- The film presents harsh survival ethics, particularly regarding the introduction of new group members (Frank vs. Major West's crew). (00:10:36, 00:20:24)
- The military enclave scene served as a narrative high point, abruptly pivoting the tone from survival horror to human depravity. (00:36:08, 00:42:51)
- The commentary posits the film as a defining, high-quality entry in the zombie/infected genre, noted for its 2002 cultural impact. (01:01:30, 01:03:16)
Orientation: Michael and Vivian watch Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later for the first time, reacting moment-by-moment to the initial outbreak, Jim’s awakening in London, and the subsequent encounters with survivors. This breakdown captures their shock at the film's fast-paced horror contrasted with its deeper meditations on human nature under extreme duress.

“With endless love, we left you sleeping. Now were sleeping with you. Don't wake up." This movie does a really great job on bringing emotional moments to the chaos.
This is one of my favorite movies. The unpolished-ness of it makes it feel more real.
Its the fact that it only took 17 days, till the army guys set their plan in motion
It's extra chilling, when you know what's actually going on, that you realise WHY the soldiers waited so long to reveal themselves at the blockade - they took one look at Frank and realised that, a big, clearly physically powerful man like him would be too much of a handful for ANY of them to deal with (especially since he would've fought EXTRA hard to protect his daughter), so they held back to wait and see if he would just make a mistake and get himself killed and therefore do them a favour. Which is exactly what happened ...
the zombies don't smell like death because they aren't dead, they are infected with a virus but they're not undead...
Everybody's always happy about the people rescuing the monkeys until...
i love Vivian saying she’s not of age during a zombie apocalypse😂😂
This is like when people watch The Thing & say " Noooo, not the doggoooo 😅😅😅 "
Classic British weather: rains all the damn time, but when the world ends = no rain for 10 days lmao
