“With endless love, we left you sleeping. Now were sleeping with you. Don't wake up." This movie does a really great job on bringing emotional moments to the chaos.
This is one of my favorite movies. The unpolished-ness of it makes it feel more real.
It's extra chilling, when you know what's actually going on, that you realise WHY the soldiers waited so long to reveal themselves at the blockade - they took one look at Frank and realised that, a big, clearly physically powerful man like him would be too much of a handful for ANY of them to deal with (especially since he would've fought EXTRA hard to protect his daughter), so they held back to wait and see if he would just make a mistake and get himself killed and therefore do them a favour. Which is exactly what happened ...
Its the fact that it only took 17 days, till the army guys set their plan in motion
the zombies don't smell like death because they aren't dead, they are infected with a virus but they're not undead...
The opening scene of Cillian wandering the REAL LIFE empty streets of London is one of the greatest opening scenes in horror movie history. You can see why it has been copied and/or spoofed like in the first paintball episode of Community.
For those interested have a dig around online about how Danny Boyle made this film. He used top end consumer/prosumer cameras of the time for a lot of the filming (Canon XL1) which are mini dv cameras with 3 x sensors and described as broadcast quality, though of course we now have HD, 4k, 8k etc. The grainy effect is deliberate emulating the 'found footage' genre, and the London street scenes were filmed very early in the day and with tight filming windows. The budget for the film was $8m, and it made $82.8m

best fun fact and thing about this movie is when someone ask how they shot those scenes in a desert London... the answer is just : really early in the morning x)
