In the books, Alice and Charlie actually have a close friendship - something the films didn't really portray very well.

the reason the third wife had to mortally wound herself rather than lightly wound herself is because the village was decimated so there was already lots of blood around, to distract the cold woman she needed to bleed so much that it overwhelmed the rest of the village; Bella was able to lightly wound herself because the location was isolated, so only a small amount of blood was necessary!

Just to give some context that's not in the movie, JACOB is the one manipulating Bella on that mountain. He never had any intention of going out in some blaze of glory to clear the way for Edward. He knew if he said that, Bella would ask him to kiss her.

It drives me crazy how EVERY man that watched this concludes that Bella is manipulating Jacob on the mountain when they kiss. I see it the other way around. To threaten anyone who cares about you (platonically or romantically) with self harm because you’re upset that they aren’t choosing you…… THATS MANIPULATION! Bella trying to frantically do anything that Jacob may want (like a kiss) to calm him or get him out of that mindset…. I don’t see that as her doing anything wrong. It sucks for Edward and her and Jacob but Jacob put them in that position with his threat and Edward as well by letting Jacob know about the engagement when Bella didn’t want to tell him yet (probably suspecting a dramatic reaction). Bella is the victim lol.

No. Jacob is coercing her with threats of suicide, knowing she will give him what he wants. The kiss. He hoped the physical contact would make her see him as the choice. It's pretty gross and the second assault he orchestrated. The reason Edward was forgiving is because he could hear him scheming.

Sorry guys. Jacob was the manipulator on that mountain. He essentially threatened to go off himself in the battle if she didnt do what he wanted. And while she may have some feelings toward him, maybe even love, she's ALWAYS made it clear that it will ALWAYS be Edward. Jacob is the one that keeps setting Jacob up for heartbreak.
