He's not cold because there's a ghost near him, he's cold and feeling stiff arms and legs because he's feeling Nell's rigor mortis through the "twin thing"

I've always thought that Luke genuinely saw Joey as JUST a friend, but no one ever believes him still. Even as an adult. Because he didn't really kiss her back, and he seemed genuinely confused by the gesture. He had also literally just told her that she reminds him of his sibling, so like, of course he didn't see her in a romantic way.

18:41 That was just one of the many hidden ghosts throughout the series, and what a wild reaction 🤣

Luke's story breaks my heart. I can not watch this episode without falling completely apart lol. Him and Nell, feel like the most innocent characters and they seemed to suffer so much. I love this show.

I've always seen Steve as writing the books to cope with his trauma. it's like he had to write it down so he could pretend it was a story, rather than face it and admit that it really happened. all of the siblings are doing things that help them cope with their trauma in their own way.

The Luke episode is where I start crying, and it doesn't stop for every episode that comes after. Such a fucking masterpiece as all the pieces of the puzzle come together and all the questions get answered. Achara and Kristen are perfect for reacting to this show. The marvels to come in terms of how they weave past and present are going to blow their minds and break their hearts. Can't wait!

“Who’s hand was I holding?” That line is pulled straight from the original 1960 feature film.

I’ve had a theory since my first rewatch: when they were young, the Twin Thing was great for Luke & Nell. It’s a curse now though, being so connected like that. Her mental health & his sobriety screw each other up - he can never be sober when she’s on meds & vice versa. 😢 p.s. Finally, you saw! And that’s just one of many 😂

I think there's an important distinction with the term "gaslighting" in that it's a malicious, intentional act of abuse - making someone question reality by consistently tearing down their perceptions of what is happening and then lying about it. If the dad genuinely just doesn't believe what Luke said, I wouldn't call that gaslighting.

If you can find empathy for Luke, if you can understand why his character keeps turning back to drugs, just replace ghosts with real trauma that for whatever reason, a person can't defeat on their own. The same is true whether it's a crack addict or a functional alcoholic. There's almost always something that's been chasing them since they were young, and they've never learned how to overcome it. Instead, they learn how to bear it.
