Description

Jaby & Brandon react to Pride & Prejudice (2005), diving into the classic Regency-era romance that follows Elizabeth Bennet as she navigates love, class, and first impressions—while clashing with the reserved and misunderstood Mr. Darcy. Set against the backdrop of English society, the story unfolds through family pressures, social expectations, and slow-burn emotional tension. And no—this isn’t Bridgerton—but it’s very much the blueprint for that world, trading scandalous gossip for sharper dialogue and timeless character dynamics. This reaction stands out for its character-driven storytelling, romantic tension, and iconic moments, as Jaby & Brandon experience the wit, misunderstandings, and emotional payoffs in real time. Directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Anna Karenina, Darkest Hour, Pan, Hanna), the film stars Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean, Love Actually, Atonement, Begin Again, The Imitation Game), Matthew Macfadyen (Succession, Death at a Funeral, Anna Karenina, Robin Hood, Ripper Street), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Jack Reacher, The Wheel of Time, I Care a Lot, Die Another Day), Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games, Ordinary People, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, MASH, Ad Astra), and Brenda Blethyn (Secrets & Lies, Little Voice, Atonement, Vera, Saving Grace), bringing together a cast recognized across period drama, major franchises, and character-driven storytelling that continues to attract strong reaction audiences and crossover fandom interest. ___________________________________________________ We've got merch! Lydia ran away with a man she was not married to and was with him alone. The only way to save her and the family’s reputation was for them to be married. And Mr wickham was not going to marry her for cheap. He was basically trying to extort her family. Darcy paid for everything so wickham would marry her and save the reputation of her and her family. Their father would never have been able to afford that. Also mistress also means head of the household.

So crazy to think this was Joe Wright's directorial debut. What a slam dunk.

Darcy basically called The Bennets ghetto. He wasn't necessarily wrong (their behavior really was improper), but its still a tremendously cruel thing to say lol

Pride and Prejudice is THE original 'enemies to lovers' story. When women watch this for the first time, they immediately see that something is off with Mr. Wickham. And the thing that was keeping Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy apart was the fact that she told him she would never marry him. She made it very clear that she hated him. He's not going to swoop in and propose again until he knows that she has changed her mind about him.

couples are separated at dinner to prevent them only talking to each other. It facilitates conversation between all the guests.

59:49 What stands in their way is that Lizzy told him no and he understands that no means no. He is fixing things because he loves her; not to win her. He doesn't want her to feel obligated to him.
