Jaby, Achara & Michael watch School Daze, the vibrant musical drama set at a historically Black college where tensions between fraternities, colorism debates, activism, and campus politics collide in a bold exploration of identity, pride, and unity. The name of the movie is School Daze, the pun on the word "Days" is the core theme of the movie. Spike Lee is arguing that our community (specifically at HBCUs) was in a "mental daze," focused on the wrong things. Instead of focusing on education, liberation, or ending apartheid, the students are "dazed" by colorism, hair texture, Greek life, and class status A lot of people were pissed at Spike Lee when this movie came out because they felt like he was airing out our dirty laundry.

5:05 I love how Michael leaned in like, “I know that ain’t who I think it is?,” when he recognized Khadeem Hardison aka Dwayne Wayne.

A review of Spike Lee's movies may be needed at this point. School Daze covers alot of themes within Black culture (e.g., colorism, community, social justice, HBCUs, fraternity/pledging, legacy, etc.).
