Arnold Zuboff argues that universalism does not explain what consciousness is — only that wherever there is immediate first-person experience, that experience is “mine.” Do you think theories of consciousness can remain separate from questions of personal identity — or are the two inseparable?
The nature of consciousness is that it is a self-illumined existence because only through consciousness can we know consciousness and not through matter can we know consciousness.
I have literally no idea what's going on.
I would like to hear more what Robert thinks. He's always interviewing but what are he's opinions. I trust his logic a lot.
At this point, one thing is most clear: this isn't really about the predicate in Consciousness and realizing it, but is about the conditioned mind. Consciousness is a predicate for the highest understanding of the Absolute or nirguna Brahman. Trying to find a way to shoe horn this truth or higher concept of supra-consciousness into ones conditioned mind or paradigm of how things really are is not how this works... You have to die... to your existential self, and until you do, it will ever remain convoluted quarrels as these videos display. All of the doctrines and scriptures spell this out and intimate it – renewed mind, born again, ego'less free, new life, etc. Ancient Greek monistic metaphysics and Vedanta is the cap stone. Do you also believe that you can go to the bottom of the ocean without decompression or reaching the summit of K2 without acclimatization.. metaphysics is no joke – this is the league of world-class beings of the highest Knowledge & wisdom. There's no laughing or silly remarks here or silly beliefs; it isn't for entertainment. The sanyasins sacrificed EVERYTHING, so to, best as they could, recollect this knowledge. This isn't a discussion with others at the coffee table. If you're not going to put your life on the line, then you're not worthy of this knowledge.
Physicalist madness.
Theology doesn't employ consciousness in order to establish the Truth. Consciousness is acknowledged through theological channels because science is way behind the eight ball.
Nonsnse. Without consciousness there would be no sense of self, of being. There would be no awareness of the apparent flow of time. No sense of being in the world.
If there is a God, and if that God is conscious, then according to Zuboff's Universalism, my consciousness and God's consciousness are one, and God's identity is mine as well. God's "I Am" is my "I am" (which gives new meaning to the biblical revelation that God calls Godself, "I Am that I am"). Such a conclusion definitely supports Meister Eckhart's discovery that, "“The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me; my eye and God's eye are one eye, one seeing, one knowing, one love.”
very superficial and literal views about consciousness. Our existence in the 3D world may not be the entire existence, but our brains may not be able to comprehend dimensions outside of our physical existence. We simply don’t or can’t know! at least for now. People who draw conclusions based on limited knowledge and understanding are merely voicing their opinions and not facts. opinions are fine, but when they are presented as facts it becomes misinformation
