*Federico Faggin argues that consciousness cannot be derived from non-conscious matter and should instead be treated as a fundamental property of reality.* Can consciousness ultimately be explained through physical processes, or must it exist as a primitive feature of the universe?
The Biological Reality: cells demonstrate behavior that looks remarkably like agency. They communicate, they regulate their internal environment (homeostasis), they sense their surroundings, and they make "decisions" to survive or reproduce. If we define consciousness even minimally as "the capacity to sense and respond to the environment," then clearly, a cell is a conscious agent.
To me Frederiico explain clearly the mechanism of creativity , thank you Frederico , I love to ear you , Mimie Langlois artist
Excellent! Federico Faggin's quantum information panpsychism is closest to truth 🎯💯💡
Salutations, Robert! this video like so many of your other productions was an absolute delight and a treat to listen to! You and your boundless curiosity, as well as your mastery as an interviewer *specifically on the subject of consciousness* you've done so much research that it's quite clear that you know what you're talking about but also you know the right questions to ask! I've been subscribed for years and I have shared your channel with friends family members and colleagues. before now I left comments saying what I'm about to say and yet I the sentiment bears repeating which is that I am immensely grateful for your channel because I feel as though I am able to more or less keep up with or at least stay abreast of the latest developments in neuroscience and its intersection with philosophy and ai and our collective understanding of the human mind. back when I was a student I asked many of the same questions which of course Drew raised eyebrows at Sears and laughs from teachers and fellow students alike. I just kept wondering to myself why don't these people care? why aren't they curious? who wouldn't want to know how consciousness came to be as well as the mechanisms by which it is given life. I said this before too but please keep doing what you're doing because you've created a sanctuary here for like-minded individuals. and to everyone, it has been and continues to be an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be on this journey with all of y'all. best of luck and best wishes. pray for wisdom!
Finally ! Frederico Faggin !! :) His theory fascinates me more than any other
Thank you again for providing this interview. Im actually fascinated by his ideas impact on Quantum Science and computing . A lot focus on its weighting on spirituality, but if true , they have a staggering Impact on the sciences
I’m always impressed with RLK because he’s a terrific interviewer. Faggin is just assuming conscientious can’t emerge.
You have had this discussion with hundreds of "minds" for which I am grateful. Don't you think, as I do, that Federico not only is "closest", but also elegantly, eloquently, joyously and coherent expenses the truth? The bonus is his expression of it comes from his experience of it, not just an academic understanding.
Motive is fundamental, and determined by existence, limited by understanding justified through the description of conclusion, the truth is inevitable, but for now the paradox and reason is free will
