Randall Carlson Is Opening a University

Michael Arbuthnot is a professionally trained archaeologist who has built a commercial career applying his skills to underwater survey work, and hosts the podcast Archaeology Underground, where he brings on both mainstream and alternative researchers for conversations that most academics keep confined to the hallway at conferences. The discussion centres on Monte Verde Two in southern Chile, the site that broke the Clovis First model when it received formal validation from North America's top archaeologists in 1997. A recent paper questioning the site's age has reopened the dispute, and Michael's position is that the resolution is straightforward: take quality geological cores at the site and run a direct comparative analysis against Tim Dillehay's original stratigraphy. On the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis, Michael's read is equally direct: a massive extinction event, wildly fluctuating sea levels, and dramatic human migration converging at the same boundary point toward catastrophe as the more parsimonious explanation, a position he held privately in graduate school in the late 1990s when it was still considered fringe.
