Kudos for inviting Mr. Pap to speak on the Hungarian state of affairs. What an eloquent yet succinct explanation he gave! In just a few minutes, he was able to give us Americans a sweeping, global view of Hungary since its liberation from the Soviets in 1989, the rise of Orbán, and then of Magyar. I now have a good perspective of the situation there.

Thousands of families have suffered emotional, financial, and medical harm from unjust detentions. How can we honor 250 years of independence when we’re living under a billionaire-led regime that rules through tyranny and corruption?
