The setting for the opioid crisis Anastasia describes also exemplifies one aspect of the cycle of civiisations where different values and priorities pertain at different times. Maybe people's loss of self-worth and meaning due to the redundancy of their skills is also behind their seeking meaning in religion or ideology.
Im old enough to remember the studies that were done when shooter games first came out. They predicted these mass shootings. It's pretty much common sense to know the effect they'd have on children..even if it's only .1%...apparently it's enough to make it an almost daily problem in a society where guns are so easily accessible.

I agree with Anastasia that many men do not want to talk through their feels. They would rather do something like an activity with friends to work out their feelings physically in a healthy way. I would say talking can even create much more stress for them rather than help. I think some of the issues are lack of purpose and connection, loss of prospect from job saturation, lack of real personal time, the scarcity of third places, inability to have discipline... it's a societal issue and w.r.t. mass shootings the availability of guns has little, but not nothing, to do with it.
I'm just about to go on a walk with my dog and I was hoping your latest episode was out, and here it is. Huzzah!
