I’m sorry, but this Modern Day Debates platform honestly sucks. I have never ever seen good moderation come from any one of their shows, they stick a person on camera to introduce the people and run an ad for their platform and then sit there for the entire thing not even paying attention. I understand there are different styles of moderation, some being less involved. But when Ryan and Pisco are arguing about what the topic of the debate is and where the conversation should go, this is precisely the point a moderator should be able to step in on. And not to meekly say “hey guys let’s be nice and try to stay ‘on topic.’” To actually put a foot down and say “both of you stop. The topic of the debate that was agreed to was X. We are going to debate X. If both of you would like to agree to debate something else specific we can decide that here and proceed from there, or schedule another debate. And Ryan, if you don’t want to debate that topic, you are conceding that debate question to Pisco.” The fact a moderator doesn’t even know that it’s appropriate to step in for a situation like this and lets Ryan get away with being so incredibly dishonest about the debate Modern Day Debates organized should reflect incredibly poorly on their platform and should discourage people from wanting to go on.
