Toyota, Mazda, Subaru, Honda.
Purchased a used 2018 Mazda 3 with about 36,000 miles on it for my son a few years ago. That car now has 127,000 miles. It's needed nothing but plugs, brakes, a battery and coils. Did the battery and coils myself.
This is exactly why I subscribe to your channel; your knowledge is outstanding and very helpful. Thank you.
My wife and I have owned three Mazdas - each has been bullet-proof.
Honda makes the most ICE engines in the world and is the largest engine manufacturer in the world. Enough said.
We have a Mazda CX50 with 2.5 ICE non turbo with six speed transmission. Tough as nails smooth combo.love this car.
Any NA Toyota or Honda engine. Any ZF or Aisin transmission. Acceptable would be VW EA888 Gen 2. or later with 7-speed DSG, BMW B58 with ZF, and surprisingly the MB M133/139 used in their 2.0T AMG models. Those German engines are higher maintenance than any JDM engine, but they have no inherent flaws that will result in them destroying themselves.
You sir are a gift that just keeps on giving. Thanks for sharing your honest and knowledgeable opinions on the car industry. I bought a used 2021 Lexus NX300 Hybrid after watching your videos and am extremely happy.
I love your channel. You give great information and are knowledgeable without being verbose.
*The most reliable car I've ever had was an old Ford Courier, made by Mazda. It was a real beater, but I drove it every day for five years, and all I ever had to do was replace the clutch slave cylinder and a battery. I had to reset the point gap a couple of times, but that was it! Sometimes I wish I had kept it. The carb even had a glass side cover over the bowl with the proper fuel level marked on it!*
