I have the 2026 civic hybrid Sport Touring. On highway I get about 40mpg at 70 mph cruising. In the city driving I’ve hit 63mpg, following the flow of traffic.
The Accord Touring performs better than the Civic. Has all those things you complained the Civic does not, and the best MPG I've gotten on Economy mode is 49.5.
I like look of Kia Sportage Hybrid. Also it has spare tire.
I have a 2025 Ford Maverick lariat hybrid with the 4K tow package. I couldn’t be happier with the capability and all of the tech. It has stepped that I don’t even see in even 60,000 or $70,000 truck. It has a freaking integrated trailer brake controller in a automatic to assist camera system to help you hook up a trailer. All for less than 40,000 bucks and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I took my little 13 foot toe behind about at least once a month camping down here in Florida and it’s more than capable.
I have had a Kia Sportage for almost 3 years now, and I thought the infotainment/environmental, unit would be a hassle, but I just leave it on the environment controls and use the controls on the steering wheel to control the entertainment and I've never had to switch it from one to the other. All you have to do is take five minutes and programmed the mode button, and every option you have for the infotainment is right there at your fingertips on the steering wheel. You never need to switch from one to the other on the center consul. I have also always got at least 38 miles to the gallon with a combo of highway and street driving. The Kia Sportage is hands-down the best car I've ever purchased. Not one single issue in almost 3 years.
You're spot on with your assessment of Toyota's front seats. I've owned two Camry's and a Prius, and after 30 minutes driving in all of them it felt like I was sitting on the floorboards. Apparently Toyota doesn't get enough complaints on that or they just don't care. Loved the cars, but my posterior didn't.

We bought a 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrid SX prestige, and just love it. I am curious, though, as to why the very similar Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid didn't get a mention?
