China's Forbidden SUV: Better Than the Competition?

Been a BMW & Range Rover customer for 30 years here in Dubai, last year bought for me and Family a NIO, ROX 01 and a Denza B8 for the price of a single a Range Rover 😂😂😂... Each of these are better in quality and functionality than a Range Rover or a BMW... China is disrupting auto markets outside USA like there's no tomorrow.... Unbelievable value

Unfortunately, in US market the car manufacturers have gotten so complacent that they are in for a shock.

Good to see you finally acknowledging Chinese cars. Come to Mexico where I live and you’ll see dozens of brands. I just test drove a couple Geelys, they are a great value. But their Zeekr brand, a bit more luxury I just saw for first time: outta this world. The US deserves these cars. US mfrs, except for Rivian and maybe Lucid, are asleep at the wheel. They’ll get more competitive or die as happened when Japanese cars came to US.

While 31.4 MPG in range-extender mode might not look like a "miracle" next to a compact hybrid, the technical feat here is actually about power-to-mass efficiency. The Galaxy M9 is a 5,770-lb luxury SUV with 850 horsepower. For context, the new 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid targets ~34 MPG, but it only has 330 hp and weighs nearly 1,200 lbs less. Achieving 30+ MPG while moving nearly three tons of SUV with supercar acceleration (0–60 in 4.2s) is class-leading engineering. The real "miracle" is the EREV (Extended Range EV) architecture. By using the engine strictly as a high-efficiency generator, Geely delivers: * 130 miles of pure electric daily commuting. * 880+ miles of total range, completely deleting range anxiety. * Flagship performance at a price point (~$35k in China) that undercuts almost every 3-row HEV in the States. It’s essentially providing the fuel costs of a family hybrid with the soul of a performance SUV. That's a massive shift for the industry!

Eleven years ago, I bought a Geely gasoline car in China for $9,000. It's a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine. In eleven years, it has driven 100,000 kilometers, and guess what? It has never disappointed me. My dad is still driving it now. Apart from the slightly poor sound insulation, it's still excellent for daily family use. Haha.😂😂😂

I live in Australia and I own the PHEV EX5 EM-i / Starray EM-i. An amazing car and incredible value. It makes the competition look like they are 10 years old and way over priced. Legacy brands are in the process of being demolished in the Australian market.

The extremely complient ride quality can be advertised as "American classic" land yacht.
