Description

Ambassador Chas Freeman discusses the desperation in Europe as the security architecture disintegrates. Ambassador Freeman is a former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense (1993-94), earning the highest public service awards of the Department of Defense for his roles in designing a NATO-centered post-Cold War European security system and in reestablishing defense and military relations with China. He served as U. S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia (during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm). He was Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs during the historic U.S. mediation of Namibian independence from South Africa and Cuban troop withdrawal from Angola. Glenn's programs have risen steadily in the rank of geopolitical programs I value. I await them and gravitate to them. You're doing it right, Glenn, and your numbers reflect that.

NATO should have been dissolved at the same time as the Warsaw Pact. Therein lies the root of all the current failures in Europe.

Horrible crazy and evil times. All seems ruined and lost. Going to hell. So few good wise leaders. And the masses are sheeples.

It should always be remembered war makes vast sums of money for a war-making politicians' donors ... and in an actual war the 'leaders' are protected as their power increases. Maybe too obvious, but still it should be said.

There is no "getting back on track" for the EU. They have shown themselves to be inept, corrupt war mongers.

Thanks for this excellent and thoughtful interview. It's tragic what's happening with the warmongering and antidemocratic actions of Europe's leaders. Praying that we all get to a more sane place.

Coalition of the Billing. Taxpayers pay the price. Elites cash the cheques.

Ursula von der Leyen is the problem. She acts as though continuing this futile war is strengthening the EU and may be used to finesse EU expansion. Unfortunately for all of Europe.
