At the start of the movie, Duke's mom was able to figure out the box and was even able to answer the puzzles while being distracted. This maybe a foreshadowing on how simplistic the puzzles and the mind of the villain really is. Edit: wow! 400 likes! Thanks all!
100% they need to keep making more. Each movie having nothing to do with the previous ones except Blanc coming back to solve murder mysteries!
One thing I really liked that I don’t think a lot of people picked up on is that everytime during the scene where duke dies something happens that you can use to pick up on the overall mystery the camera pans to the Mona Lisa, which a lot of people have said the Mona lisa’s stare is very mysterious and gives off the vibe that she knows something you don’t. I love the symbolism of her almost being the person watching over everything teasing everytime something important happens that she saw but you won’t pick up on.
Janelle Monae was soo captivating in this movie 😍 I loved every scene she’s in
He forgot to mention. You definitely notice this on rewatch. The reaction Bron gives when he sees “Andi” for the first time on the beach. He gives that OH SHIT look, knowing damn well he killed her. Like he’s seeing a ghost. It’s good because the director misdirects the audience with the prior mention of the trial that just happened that kicked out Andi, but it’s actually because he’s seeing helen on the island, knowing she know something is up.
The sweatpants being made at sweatshops part got me so good 😂
Did anyone notice that the puzzle boxes sent out at the beginning kind of represented the murder mystery. In the beginning layered clues and then the Andi/Helen reveal was like hammering to the end.
You missed out on one thing. During the flashback, before they get on the boat, Blanc tells Helen that Miles can't be the murderer because he's not an idiot and won't do it himself because of the publicity of the trial and when someone else would do it for him. That's why Blanc so angry when Miles does turn out to be an idiot, who drove even drove his own car to the murder and incriminated himself.
The Helen of Troy thing makes kind of sense, especially when Benoit kept repeatedly saying that he had an Achilles heel for simple games
