The second spin-off in the ever-expanding Conjuring Universe, The Nun, takes us to Romania in 1952, where we learn the origins of the franchise's biggest and scariest villain, Valak. First introduced in The Conjuring 2, the demon Nun instantly stole the show from Annabelle and became the new face of the franchise. Diving deeper into the history of the Conjuring universe, The Nun is full of hidden details linking it to the rest of the franchise, as well as legends from Romanian history. Make sure you leave a like and hit the thumbs up, and let's get right into it. We begin the film with a quick recap of Valak’s introduction in The Conjuring 2 and her terrorizing of Lorraine Warren. We then get text across the screen telling us that the following events occurred in 1952, bringing us to the Abbey of St. Carta, Romania where two Nuns make their way down a long corridor filled with crosses. Making their way through the dark and creepy hallway, they reach a door that reads “God Ends Here”, and one of the Nun’s, Sister Victoria, questions if they are making the right decision and if the “relic” will save them, which we will get to later. The older Nun, Sister Jessica, say’s they have no choice and that she needs to have faith, before going through the door and immediately being attacked by the Nun. I guess she didn’t have enough faith.
