Maybe I'm just a big sissy, but I found that hybrid creature genuinely scary. I like when it first appears; there's no music and it's just chilling out, quietly staring at them and smiling. It was refreshing to actually be scared by something in a film
that baby human xenomorph thing was fucking horrifying i gasped wtf
The first 2 frames when IT is in the hallway is fucking 10/10! I was: "WTH!?? Is that fucking thing??" 🤯🤣😅
This movie made me hunger for more of the universe.. Same as the first.. And the second movie
I'll definitely call Romulus a swooning love letter to the entire Alien universe. We get the first act of Alien, the action of Aliens, and the weird off the wall of Alien 3/Resurrection. The number of references and callbacks were really enjoyable for me. Some might call the first 30 minutes slow, but the world building of a WY colony is the type of expansion the Alien universe needs, lest it will get stale.
Anyone else think that the absolute silence at the beginning was a reference to the marketing line “in space, no one can hear you screaming” ?
The "rock" at the beginning isn't a random rock it's actually the Alien from the first film, that's where the scientists got the samples from to start working with on the Romulus, you actually see it hung up in the lab and as the camera pans past it you see the harpoon still stuck in it that Ripley fired from the first movie.
The jump scare as she's getting pulled back into the ship got me
The term ‘Andy’ was used by Philip K Dick to describe Androids, so the name is also a nod to Blade Runner
