When I was a young Archaeologist in the field I was contracted by the US Forest Service to take pictures of petroglyphs in the Catalina Mountains of Tucson Arizona. It was a remote area on the mountainside called Baby Jesus Ridge. Out of the 1200 + photographs I took of these beautiful works of art which also included a number of spirals, just one stood out to me more than any other. It was a glyph a of a giant being confronted by a small figure holding a hand axe. These petroglyphs were known to be over 1100 years old of course they were very primitive but this petroglyph caught my eye immediately it's that light on the trail I was walking on. The giant had to be at least 20 ft tall in comparison to the figure confronting him with a hand axe. The etchings themselves were not 20 ft tall but in perspective to each other the giant was much taller than the figure, holding the hand axe up above his head and back as if getting ready to strike the smaller figure was definitely in a mind of defense. There was also an extremely large figure, approximately 3 ft High, on one of the rocks, above a cliff area, that looked like a human centipede. Other strange figures were on these rocks, particully overlooking the valley. We determined that this was a ceremonial area because it was enclosed by huge standing rocks. These rocks were not naturally deposited by the mountain but we're standing straight up... If I have ever had the notion of giants it was back then seeing those petroglyphs which was such a awesome experience. This areas are closed to the public now and no one has seen them since the early 80's.
