The PM's original family name was Mileikowsky. His father, Benzion Mileikowsky, was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1910. Benzion Netanyahu wasn’t just any man; he was a hardcore Revisionist Zionist. He was a close associate of Zeev Jabotinsky, leader of the movement’s most militant wing. Revisionist Zionism flatly rejected any compromise with the local Arab population. It promoted the idea of a Jewish state on both sides of the Jordan River, dismissing Palestinian national aspirations entirely. This ideological movement worked deliberately to undermine the possibility of an independent Palestinian state, seeing the land as exclusively Jewish by historical right because some book and stories said so. Through settlement expansion, political lobbying, and outright force, they pushed for Jewish sovereignty over all of historic Palestine, regardless of the indigenous Arab population. Benzion himself spent years in the United States campaigning for this goal. He was deeply committed to the idea that Jewish survival and power depended on uncompromising control of the land, even at the cost of displacing or subjugating Palestinians.
