US Airstrikes Against Venezuelan Boats: Civilian Targets or Narco-Terrorist Operations?

Understand the US justification for deadly maritime strikes near Venezuela versus independent reports suggesting fishermen were the actual victims. Learn how these actions fit into a long history of US destabilization efforts in the region.

Short Summary

  • The Trump administration claims lethal strikes target cartel suspects to prevent US overdose deaths.
  • Survivors are reportedly taken into US custody without public accounting, mirroring past controversial deportations lacking due process.
  • Independent reports and victims' origins point to the vessels carrying local fishermen, not large drug shipments.
  • The stated goal of interdicting fentanyl lacks grounding, as experts note Venezuela produces none of the drug.

This discussion with reporter Camila Escalante reveals the massive US military buildup accompanying these strikes signals a risk of direct invasion, using narco-terrorism as the current pretext. The international community, including regional neighbors, remains skeptical and resistant to unilateral US action based on potentially fabricated intelligence.

Real drug dealers are not going to be so careless with their merchandise. Think about it, if you are transporting illegal drugs which generates huge profits, are you going to do so in waters that U S has surrounded knowing that they are looking for you? I think the real Cartels are using other strategies.
