China has an excess (perhaps too much) capacity of building infrastructures and that's why it finds itself in a position of exporting those capacity, and Africa happens to be where it's needed the most. It's simple supply and demand. Calling it debt trap is large because the US looking at it through the lens of a former colonizer.

I hate to spoil your fun but there is absolutely no way you can equate China, s dealings with Africa with that of America .China comes without a history of exploitation and thus a clean sheet, not something the US can claim.
