When you hear they worry about a lack of public trust, that's means they're worried their efforts to instill fear and defeat are likely not going to work! These people have been dispatched to make the public think another one of their attacks on the people's sovereignty and liberty is inevitable! Why? So you give up resistance and give in to their control and domination over you!
How about instead of working on drugs to fight a virus we work on creating a death penalty law to whoever works or funds gain of function?

The government decided they were a threat and after months of legal battles, officers showed up to this family farm where the birds lived and just shot them in the middle of the night.
