The 16-year rule of Hungarian strongman Viktor Orbán collapsed on Sunday, as opposition leader Peter Magyar won a supermajority giving his party a supermajority allowing them to deliver on promises of "system change." Orbán's defeat also represents a striking blow to Trump, MAGA, and the global far-right, which emulated Orbán's brand of "illiberal democracy." Just before the election, Vance stumped for Orbán in Hungary and brought Trump on the phone in a rally. Trump promised Hungary a financial bailout if voters propped up his strongman friend. Hungarian voters rejected the endorsement. Princeton University professor Kim Scheppele, a leading expert on Orbán's autocratic legalism, explains what the results mean for Trump, MAGA, and the Orbanism that outlives its leader.
