Trump HUMILIATED as $1,200,000,000 Project GETS DISMANTLED!!!

Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian cover the quiet death of Alligator Alcatraz, the immigration detention facility Trump and DeSantis opened with a ribbon-cutting in the Florida Everglades last July. Contractors were notified this week to begin "full demobilization." The facility cost $1.2 billion, operated at over $1.2 million per day, processed roughly 22,000 detainees, and is now empty. Florida is still waiting on $608 million in federal reimbursement held up by court challenges. ICE data showed 900 of 1,400 male detainees at one point had no criminal record. A 101-year-old Purple Heart recipient stood outside at a weekly vigil and called it fascism. Conditions included overflowing toilets with feces in sleeping areas, two-by-two isolation boxes, 24-hour lighting, extreme heat, shackling, prolonged solitary confinement, and virtually no medical or mental health care. Florida AG James Uthmeier bragged that detainees would find "not much waiting for them other than alligators and pythons." Polling found only 35% of Floridians approved. DeSantis now says it was "always meant to be temporary," but Brian and Shant note it was promoted as a model for other states to replicate. It didn't need the courts to shut it down.
