Trump DOJ SCREWS Themselves in MAJOR APPEAL

Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian break down the DOJ's whiplash reversal on its appeals defending Trump's executive orders targeting law firms. Four firms — Perkins Coie, WilmerHale, Jenner & Block, and Susman Godfrey — refused to capitulate and challenged the orders in court. Federal judges unanimously struck them down as unconstitutional, with one calling it "an unprecedented attack" on the legal system and another calling it a "personal vendetta." On Monday evening, the DOJ voluntarily moved to dismiss its appeals. By Tuesday morning, it reversed course with no explanation and told the firms they had 30 minutes to respond. Meanwhile, nine other firms had already taken the knee — agreeing to gut DEI policies and provide over a billion dollars in pro bono work to the Trump administration, as if the federal government were a charity case. The hosts note those firms must now feel like fools, having surrendered when they could have fought and won. The attorneys also flag a pending ABA lawsuit — represented by Susman Godfrey — alleging the entire campaign against law firms violates the First Amendment.
