I think Pete was trying to say that inflation only goes down if the inflation rate is negative. A current inflation rate of 3% means inflation is 3% HIGHER today than when Biden left office. Trump said inflation would go down. That requires a NEGATIVE rate, i.e., "deflation." That's not happening.
