🇳🇿 5 Must Eat Foods in Auckland: https://youtu.be/yv7PLNuijYo 👉 SUBSCRIBE for more: https://www.youtube.com/@MarkWiens 👕 T-shirts: https://store.migrationology.com/ Today we have the honor to eat at Ahi. Restaurant (https://ahirestaurant.co.nz/), one of the best restaurants in all of New Zealand. Chef Ben Bayly (https://www.instagram.com/benbaylynz/) has traveled the country searching for the best ingredients and products, and learning indigenous Māori cooking, and that all comes together at this restaurant. As a country made up of many different people, what is New Zealand food? And that’s exactly what Chef Ben Bayly and his team are answering. One of the highlight dishes was the local eel, a huge eel, which is a very traditional food source for the Māori people. And along with the eel, we also ate everything from paua (the famous New Zealand abalone) to crayfish. It was an outstanding meal! Kia Ora Mark, thanks for coming to my country and highlighting not only our food but our culture as it relates to food. Most youtubers would probably just hit the top 10 in each country and call it a day. Respect for giving people the time to tell their story

I have been amazed by the New Zealand tour but this video blew it out of the water. The chef has a pure heart, he speaks of childhood experiences, native ingredients and cultural considerations for food discovery. The chef is a child in a candy store, he is so genuine in his emotion and feeling when describing food and the desire to share and inspire. Truly amazing, keep it Kiwi, love you guys.

I have to say as an Aussie who for the first time went to NZ in January this year, was blown away by these people, from the Māori in Rotorua to Dunedin (my fav) to Auckland we loved every bit of it and can’t wait to return, my favourite part were the war memorials, whilst sad they gave me a better understanding of the brotherhood of the Anzacs, I’ve realised whilst we fight like warriors in rugby and cricket, we are truly brethren when it comes to backing up our mates and standing for what is right.
