My uncle who served during the Tet offensive said he couldn’t remember any of the names of the men in his platoon. He watched FMJ 3x in a row one time and it was the closest thing he ever saw that depicted his experience accurately while allowing him to jog his memory. A masterwork of cinema.
I don't have interest with the movie videos in this channel but watching this makes me want to see more of this. The beat still goes on
"This is my rifle. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my rifle and myself are defenders of my country, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen." One of the greatest movie quotes of all time that came from this masterpiece
You should definitely do 2001. Another Kubrick masterpiece.
Imagine my shock when I realized you’re Mr. Beat a month after discovering this channel
This movie does a lot to get across the intangible values of Marine Recruit Training that continue to stick around no matter how the curriculum changes It’s pretty much universally seen as accurate amongst Marines, and it’s hard for me to word exactly why I went to boot camp in 2015, and my experience differs greatly from what’s shown in the first half of the film… and yet it also comes across to me as being the same exact thing It’s not just a label applied to us, there’s definitely something in recruit training that specifically makes people into Marines; and it’s captured in Full Metal Jacket
CORRECTION: There were NO soldiers featured in this movie!
The scenes when they’re in Saigon was probably just Milton Keynes
7:49 You're being awfully humble with the word might
For a movie that increased military recruitment, Top Gun shot enlistment through the roof
